Pompon goldfish: characteristics, diet, breeding and use

The pom pom goldfish is a type of fancy goldfish also known as Pompom, Velvet ball Where Houna Foussa. It has clumps of loose, fleshy protrusions between its nostrils on either side of its head.

He is actually correctly named “Pom Pom”, but is much more commonly known as “Pom Pom” due to his appearance.

It was a very popular early fancy goldfish, but is now very rarely seen for sale or on display.

Pompom goldfish is one of the cutest and most unique varieties of fancy goldfish. There is another variant of this species called Hana Fusa or White Pompom Oranda, which is an elegant pom pom with a dorsal fin.

This is a fairly old variety and there are records of this fish as far back as 1898.

Characteristics of Pompom Goldfish

The Pompom goldfish is similar in appearance and body shape to Oranda and Lionhead goldfish (but instead of supporting head growth, it has nasal growths).

The size of the nasal growths, which is an increase in the nasal septum, varies in these fish. In some fish, the growths hang over the mouth.

And these skin growths around the nostrils of the pom poms are developed by selective dilution.

Pompom goldfish can have pearly or metallic scales and can be found with or without a dorsal fin.

They have a double anal fin and a double caudal fin. They are available in many color options including blue, white, silver, black, yellow, and orange.

Diet

Pompom goldfish are omnivorous. They eat almost all kinds of food. You can easily feed them with available goldfish food.

Pompom goldfish is considered one of the easiest exotic goldfish to keep. Because they have no characteristics that could complicate breeding.

Females tend to have a slightly slimmer figure than males. And in male fish during the breeding season, white tubercles appear along the edges of the pectoral fins and on the gill plates.
