Marek’s disease: how to control and save chickens

Marex disease is one of the viral infectious diseases of birds. Usually, chickens between 4 and 7 weeks old are susceptible to this disease. A chicken with this disease becomes paralyzed.

For this reason marex is also known as “bird paralysis”. The germ of this disease was spread by the wind. A farmer loses money if Marek’s chicken disease attacks his farm.

Symptoms of Marex disease

  • The legs and wings of the affected chicken are paralyzed.
  • The chicken is lame.
  • Sometimes they can’t get up.
  • Chicken mounds.
  • An affected chicken cannot eat food or drink water.
  • The chest bone has become very thin.
  • The crest of the head turns pale and becomes very small.
  • The eyes darken and become pearly.
  • The chicken may suffer from diarrhea.
  • The egg production of the laying bird is reduced.
  • Broilers grow poorly and lose weight every day.
  • The chicken is dying of starvation and dehydration.

Method of protection against Marex disease

This bird disease has no proper treatment. You can get rid of this disease with the help of vaccination. Apply the vaccine to chicks when they are one day old in the hatchery.

The HIV-126 vaccine is for Marex disease. Administer this vaccine to poultry by injection under the skin of the chicken at the rate of 0.2 milliliters per chicken.
