The White Suffolk sheep is a breed of domesticated sheep from Australia. In fact, this is a breed of meat sheep, bred for Australian conditions.
The breeding program began in 1977 by Dr. Ewan Roberts of the University of New South Wales, Australia, with the aim of developing the final breed of sheep.
His goal was to raise a good breed with the confirmation, structure and stature of the Suffolk, but with a white head and legs.
The initial crossing was between Polled Dorset and Suffolk, and separately the Suffolk crossed the Leicester border.
Breed association called ‘Australian White Suffolk Association‘ was founded in 1986. Learn more about this breed below.
