Addressing Global Audience

Module 3 -: This is part 3 of a series that I started a few days ago and is called: How to Create a Blog for Free and Make Money

It can be very difficult to figure out which destination to choose between a Nigerian (local) audience and a global audience. While a global audience may seem like the clear winner, there are plenty of bloggers targeting a Nigerian audience that makes a lot more money than their counterparts who chose a global audience.

Hence, there is no clear answer to the question of which audience is better. You can find out what works best for you by examining the pros and cons of each option and reevaluating your options.

Now let’s critically compare the Nigerian audience with the global audience. However, you have to take into account that we will not announce this winner This post is designed to help you make an informed decision about which audience to focus on on your blog.

Are you ready? Let’s think about it

aim at a Nigerian ( local ) against a global audience: which one is the best?

one. Skills

It goes without saying that a global audience offers more opportunities. Few blog topics can attract a large Nigerian audience and bring you good profits in the long run. However, the list of niches that can attract a global audience is endless.

For example, if you are interested in blogging about natural and home remedies, you may not be able to get attention in Nigeria because not many Nigerians are interested in the topic. However, the same topic will attract a global audience and can ultimately bring you tremendous profits as the demand for healthy advice and health products grows worldwide.

b. competition

While targeting a global audience offers many niche options, there is always stiff competition, and regardless of which niche you choose for a global audience, there are likely hundreds of other blogs already in the same niche. So you always have to face the challenge of tough competition.

If you choose health and wellness, you will find it difficult to compete with people like WebMD, Livestrong, Mayo Clinic, and others. If you go for tech, you just can’t beat Techcrunch, Techradar and Engadget at their game. As you do business, business blogs like Inc.com, Entrepreneur, and Forbes will follow you. And remember, these are just big, popular blogs. There are also plenty of other less popular blogs out there ready to crush you from the start.

Even if you choose a niche with low competition, you will always face competition – even if it can be low. However, it is much easier to get attention by targeting a Nigerian audience – even if the niche is competitive – because the competition is so much less compared to what comes out on the global front.

c. Seed capital

Even with little or no money, you can create a blog that caters to a Nigerian audience and still turn it into a popular and profitable blog.

A large number of traffic blogs in Nigeria are powered by free blogging platforms such as Blogger. Examples include Lindaikeji.blogspot.com , ladunliadi.blogspot.com and many others. Hence, if you are targeting a Nigerian audience, getting a domain name is optional and you don’t have to spend any money on anything.

However, in order to attract a global audience, you really need to stand out and do things professionally. You need to register a domain name. You need to purchase a hosting plan. You have to buy a premium theme. You need to design a professional logo. You need a marketing budget. And if you have a mailing list (what is urgently needed ) you also have to pay a monthly fee for this.

d. Writing skills

Since Nigeria is not an English-speaking metropolitan area, the Nigerian audience is more likely to overlook grammatical errors in your writing. So you don’t have to have excellent writing skills to attract and delight a Nigerian audience.

But if you can’t write great content without clear grammatical errors, you’re not going to take the global front seriously. Whether or not authenticity is a function of grammar knowledge is a moot point, a global audience will only consider you trustworthy if your writing is good and convincing.

e. Benefit

If you blog for a global audience, you have many options for making money from your blog. You can create your own products such as e-books and videos. You can sell other people’s products as a partner. You can sell ad space to advertisers. In short, there are many monetization options out there that will bring you huge profits from a global audience, and interestingly, a global audience usually includes buyers who are willing to pay for quality.

However, if you are targeting a Nigerian audience, your monetization options will be limited to selling your own product or service, selling ad space, and doing affiliate marketing. Nothing more. However, the profitability is significantly lower compared to global. Ad networks like Google Adsense don’t generate huge profits for Nigerian audiences, and Nigerian affiliate programs offer low commissions. Worse still, Nigerians are always reluctant to pay for valuable information, which explains why e-books may not sell well.

Conclusion: If you are blogging in a niche that most Nigerians are not interested in, you should be able to target a global audience if you have the right entry fees, writing skills and are determined to weather a storm of fierce competition.

However, if you are in doubt that your writing skills are impressing a global audience or not having a lot of free money, stick with a Nigerian audience when there is a huge demand in Nigeria for the topic you want to blog about.

5 factors to consider when starting a blog for a Nigerian audience

The successes of Nigerian bloggers like Linda Ikeji, Uche Pedro, Loy Okezi, Jide Ogunsanya and others prove without a doubt that blogging can become a profitable full-time business here in Nigeria. And that explains why many Nigerians are joining the popular blog hoping to be as successful as these people.

While there is no guarantee that targeting a Nigerian audience will help you blog successfully, you have a better chance of success than targeting a global audience because of fierce global competition.

It goes without saying that blogging for a global audience can generate more revenue than blogging for a Nigerian audience. But as a blogger targeting a Nigerian audience, you can still make six-digit numbers on a monthly basis. In fact, all of the above bloggers blog for a Nigerian audience and make a lot more money than most of the others who choose to target a global audience.

Building a blog – even for a Nigerian audience – requires proper planning if you want any chance of success. Here are five important factors to consider when creating a blog for a Nigerian audience.

1. Passion or interest

Before you dive in, ask yourself if you are really passionate about blogging. You are joining the blogging train to make money quickly or out of a real interest in helping people ?

While it doesn’t require you to be an expert in your niche, you need to pick a topic that genuinely interests or interests you. Your passion or interest will guide you through difficult times where your traffic is low and it seems like nobody is not interested in what you are saying.

Also, you can only research and collect quality information on the topic. if you are passionate or very interested in the subject. If you choose a topic that you don’t particularly care about or care about, you will fail in the face of the tough challenges of blogging. And your blog will be added to the endless list of abandoned blogs littering the Nigerian blogosphere.

2. Competition

Before starting a blog for a Nigerian audience, you need to be familiar with competition in each niche that you want to specialize in.

If you are targeting a niche with too many blogs that are already established and very popular, it will be difficult for you to move forward in that niche. And your path to success as a blogger can be expanded beyond your imagination.

Take entertainment and celebrities as an example. There are so many popular blogs in this niche that a brand new blog has little chance of success. In all honesty, the only way to compete with these blogs is if you have a unique voice and lots of money on advertising. To increase your chances of success, consider finding a niche with less competition but high demand.

3. Demand

Another very important factor to consider when creating a blog for a Nigerian audience is the demand for the topic or type of information that you want to blog about. While your passion or interest in a topic matters, demand is more important because you can only reach your audience with what they want, not because you are passionate about what they don’t want.

For example, if you start a blog about bead making because you have a passion for the craft, you are not going to attract any traffic, let alone make money. Why? The reason is that very few Nigerians want to learn how to make pearls. And even those who are interested probably won’t find out online. Now you understand why demand is important ?

The higher the demand for the information you want to blog about, the higher your chances of building a large audience and the better your chances of making money blogging.

4. Profitability

Reaching a large audience is one thing, but being able to make money with that large audience is another; You are completely different. Just because a niche is in high demand and can generate huge traffic doesn’t mean it is profitable.

For example, Nigerians love to look for cheat codes and hackers. And, without a doubt, any blog that shares them will reach large audiences in a short amount of time. But the question is How can you monetize a blog like this one? ?

You can’t sell ebooks or other products for free to an audience looking for paid services. They also cannot attract advertisers as no company wants their name to be associated with such a blog. Now you understand Like demand doesn’t necessarily mean profitability ? So you should come up with a niche where you can market your audience or attract advertisers.

5. Uniqueness

It doesn’t matter which niche you choose, there are probably already active blogs in that niche. Although there may be few of them. You need to find out what makes your blog stand out from the rest. And you need to give people a good reason to prioritize your blog over others in your niche.
