Tauernshek Goat: Characteristics, Uses, and Complete Breed Information

The Tauernshek goat is a breed of dairy goat used primarily for milk production. The breed comes from Austria and descends from the Austrian Landrace and Pinzgauer goat breeds.

Austrian farmers began breeding Tauernschek goats in the late 1800s. The studbook has been around since 1967. The breed was primarily bred in the Rauris Valley and the Grossglockner region. It is now a very rare breed.

Characteristics of Tauernshek goats

The Tauernshek goat is a medium-sized animal. He was bred black and brown, like the Swiss Oberhasli.

But the Tauernschek goat must have a white line on the muzzle and at least two or more large white spots on the sides, which must not break the line on the back. The male and the horns are present. Their legs should be brown and black.
