Rati Cattle: Characteristics, Origins, Uses, and Complete Breed Information

Rati cattle are an important indigenous cattle breed in India. It is a dairy cattle breed, mainly used for milk production and animal traction.

It is known that this breed has two variants – rati and rat. Rati cattle are a draft breed, while Rath are pure milk producers.

Rath cattle were tamed by the Rath tribe and this variant originated from the Alwar region of Rajasthan. White skin with black or gray spots are the main characteristics of rath cattle.

While rati cattle are usually brown in color. Rati and rati are two completely different breeds. Rati cattle are descended from the Sahiwal and Tharparkar cattle breeds.

Characteristics of rat cattle

The rati cattle is a medium-sized animal, usually brown in color with white spots all over its body. Although they are also found in completely brown or black coats with white markings.

Their lower body is usually lighter in color than the rest of the body.

They have medium sized horns and their horns are curved outwards, upwards and inwards. Their face is wide between the eyes and slightly convex. They have a long tail and the dewlap is thin and free. Photos and information from Wikipedia.

Rati cattle are very hardy animals. The ecosystem in its natural extent is fragile and the land is less fertile with very low productivity. Cool winters, dry rainy seasons, dust storms and hot summers are the typical characteristics of this region.

However, these animals are well adapted to this region and can grow well in this environment. Cows are efficient and good milk producers.
