Lithuanian Red Cattle is a dual-purpose domestic breed. It is grown for both meat and milk production and is also called Lithuanian: Lithuanian greens.
The breed was actually formed by crossing Danish red cattle with local Lithuanian cattle. The crosses were chosen for milk production, most of the animals belong to a well-defined type of dairy cow.
And in 1951, the cross was recognized as a new breed. Lithuanian red cattle currently make up about 33 percent of the total cattle population in Lithuania.
The Lithuanian Red Cattle Improvement Association manages in accordance with the National Breeding Program for Red Cattle Improvement.
The Lithuanian Red Herd Book was established in 1924. Young Lithuanian Redskins are distinguished by a very fast growth rate. They are also distinguished by good food processing and high carcass quality. With intensive fattening, bulls weigh about 413 kg at one year.
These animals were bred primarily as a breed of dairy cows, but now they are also bred for meat production. On most farms they are kept as a dual purpose animal. Learn more about this breed of cattle below.
Features of Lithuanian Red Cattle
Lithuanian red cattle are medium-sized animals. As the name suggests, the animals are red in color. They have dark hooves and forward facing horns.

The breed is characterized by a high growth rate, as well as good feed conversion and high carcass quality. Cows are good milk producers.
