Lebedinsky cattle is a dairy breed of cattle in Ukraine. The breed is also known by other names such as Lebedin Cattle or Ukrainians: Lebedynska, Lebedynska. In fact, this breed was formed by crossing Ukrainian gray cattle with brown Swiss bulls. It was recognized as a breed in 1950.
Moreover, the breed was first bred in the Sumy region, and now it is grown in the Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkov regions. More recently, the American Brown Swiss bull has been used to further improve the breed. Learn more about the breed below.
Characteristics of Lebedinsky cattle
Lebedinsky cattle are large animals with a proportional body. The breed resembles the Brown Swiss breed in appearance. The color of these animals varies from almost gray to dark brown. Forelegs, muzzle and sides of a darker shade. Adult bulls weigh an average of 850-950 kg. And an adult cow weighs an average of 500-650 kg.

Lebedinsky cattle are mainly used for milk production. They produce good quality milk with a high fat content.

Cows in the Lebedinsky region are very good milk producers. Cows produce on average between 3,000 and 3,700 kg of milk per lactation, but sometimes more.
Milk from Lebedinsky cows is of very good quality. Their milk contains a lot of fat. Milk fat levels average 3.76%, with some cows producing over 5%.
