Galatz Roller Pigeon: Characteristics, Uses, and Breed Information

Galati rolling pigeon (also called pigeon on wheelslisten)) is a breed of domestic pigeons from Romania. He was raised in Galați county in Romania.

The breed has become very popular among pigeon fanciers as these pigeons perform aerobatics in flight.

He became very popular in his country and in the rest of Europe, especially in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

The aerial acrobatics performed by these birds are comparable to the acrobatics of the rolling pigeons of Birmingham and the Orient. Read more about the Galats Roller pigeon breed below.

Appearance of the Galatz Rolling Pigeon

The Roller Pigeon Galati is a small breed with a compact body. It has a round chest, short neck and short legs.

Although it is a smaller bird, it looks larger than it actually is, mainly due to its compact body. These birds are significantly smaller than the Racing Homer pigeon.

They have a medium sized beak. The Galatz Roller Dove is available in a variety of colors.

The common colors of these birds are white flight ped with blue stripes, white flight ped with dilute blue stripes, white flight ped black, white flight ped red, and white flight ped yellow.

The white color on the head and body of the Galatz Roller Pigeon is irregular, but there are fanciers who prefer a white belly and white throat.

There are also varieties with smooth feathers and their colors are black, blue stripe, red, yellow and white.

These color variations of the feathers help fanciers and the competition jury to identify pigeons in flight.

They usually have dense plumage, which helps these birds withstand low temperatures in winter. The average live weight of adult birds is about 300 grams. Photos and information from Wikipedia.

Advantages

This pigeon is a flying breed. It is bred to fly as well as to be kept as a pet.

Special Notes

Pigeon Galatz Roller is a very hardy and strong bird, an excellent pilot. A very spectacular feature of this pigeon is also the fact that the males, in addition to the usual cooing, open their wings in a V-shape, spread their tail feathers and swallow a little air (but not as much as doves) to either impress the hens or intimidate the other males.

These birds are prolific breeders and relatively easy to care for. The parents mate again as soon as the squaws are more than a week old in the nest. A week later, the hens lay again.

In addition to flying, the breed is also well suited to being kept as a pet. However, check out the full profile of this breed in the following table.
