The Coburger Fuchschaf sheep is a breed of domestic sheep originating in Germany. It is also known as cobourg fox and it is easily characterized as a reddish-brown to golden color.
And this coloring is more pronounced at birth, but remains on the head and legs in adults.
The breed was in abundance from the 19th century until the early 20th century. But after the Second World War, it almost disappeared.
Currently, Coburger Fuchsschaf sheep flocks are mainly used for landscape conservation.
In the early 1980s, only two animals of this breed were registered. In 1934 there were 50 breeders, over 1200 breeding rams and over 1993 breeding ewes.

Coburger Fuchsschaf sheep are big animals. They are easily characterized by their reddish brown to golden color.
Their heads are red, and many animals also have a stripe on their backs. Their head and legs are not covered with hair, and their ears are large and long. Usually rams and ewes are polled.
The average height of an adult ram is about 80 cm at the withers and that of a ewe about 70 cm.
