The Campina hen is an ancient European egg-laying breed originating from northern Belgium. They were bred for egg production and primarily for white-shelled eggs.
Except for its size, Chicken Campina resembles the Belgian Braekal in every way. They are relatively smaller and lay a fair amount of white eggs.
Currently, Campin chickens are mainly bred and bred for ornamental purposes. This breed of chicken was first introduced to the UK in the 19th century and later exported from the UK to the United States.
The Campina chicken was added to the American Poultry Association’s Standard of Excellence in 1914. There is also a dwarf variety of this chicken breed.
Characteristics of Campine Chicken
Silver and gold are the two color varieties of the Campin chicken. Males and females have the same coloration. The Silver variety has pure white neck feathers and head, the rest of the bird is covered in beetle green stripes on a pure white background.
The Golden Campin variety also has the same pattern. But the feathers on their head, body and neck are a rich golden color, not white. Campinovy chickens are active, very hardy and have an inquisitive nature.
They are considered fickle and are among the rarest chicken breeds. They have well-fitting feathers and relatively large crests. Their scallop shell is unique, red, hanging from one side.

Behaviour/Temperament
The Campina chicken is a very active and hardy breed with an inquisitive nature. They are very good foragers and prefer to be outdoors most of the time.
Campina hens lay a fair amount of medium sized white eggs. But they are not reflected. Roosters are beautiful and perfect for decorative purposes.
